Past Intelius: the Philanthropic Side of Naveen Jain

Excluding his impressive work as entrepreneur and leader of information security provider Intelius, Inc., Naveen Jain has sought out other interests and passions. Naveen Jain is best-known for his astounding success as former head and founder of IT company InfoSpace, which once dominated the dot com industry when it peaked $31 billion in 2000, making it “one of the most successful companies you have never heard of.” Starting 2003, he has since engaged himself in another entrepreneurial challenge with the launching of Intelius, Inc., a provider of online intelligence services for individuals and businesses all across America. The firm supplies background checks, screening and verification services as well as protection services with the objective of improving decision-making and lives for businesses and individuals. Described by colleagues as intelligent, driven and charismatic, Naveen Jain’s leadership has been constantly praised by Seattle’s business community, awarding trophies to his name such as the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Albert Einstein Technology Medal.

The 49-year old Naveen Jain is known to multi-task different roles in the course of his career. He was once part owner of the Seattle Sonics, as member of the 58-man team that bought the basketball team in 2001. He is also known to devote his time to his passion for philanthropy, a commitment he has proven since he built Intelius. Supported by his wife, Anu, who serves as VP for Community Relations, Naveen Jain tries to expand his role in the community by giving back to those in need. The couple has in fact given over $1 million to nonprofit organizations that specialize in addressing poverty, education, youth and family concerns. Among the nonprofits they have helped include The United Way, Hopelink, Children’s Hospital, Youthcare, Overlake Service League as well as those emphasizing on India such as CRY-India, Vedic Cultural Center, and the Indian American Education Foundation.
