New Business Broadband Packages from Nildram

February 18th, 2009

Nildram has introduced ‘Enhanced Upstream’ and ‘SDSL (M)’ as two new business broadband packages being targeted at the SME customers. The UK based ISP will be extending Tiscali’s 24 Mbps ADSL 2+ products with this new launch and the move is likely to increase competitiveness in this segment.

The two packages are priced quite differently and have very different features in order to cover a large part of the market’s needs. The Enhanced Upstream is being offered at £19.50 a month (along with an £80 installation fee), whereas the SDSL (M) package is priced upwards of £59 a month. Both the services are being offered for a minimum 12 month contract.

The key difference between the two packages is the speed being offered. The Enhanced Upstream package promises a 16 Mbps download speed with up to 2.5 Mbps upload speed. The SDSL (M) comes at symmetric speeds between 512 Kbps and 2Mbps, i.e. the upload and download speeds will be the same for this package. Enhanced Upstream seems to make a lot of sense for companies in the design industry due to the high upload speed being offered, whereas the SDSL (M) will be pitted directly against BT’s leased line and SDSL services.

With the Enhanced Upstream package, customers are also being offered added features such as unlimited downloads, 100 Mb webspace and an optional minimum download speed guarantee, which comes at an extra cost.

France’s Ski Resorts May Battle because of the Much Higher Cost of Crude Oil

February 13th, 2009

Experts have forecast that the European largest 655 snowboarding domains would be reduced to 390 by 2046. Alma Li Fonti reported that ski resorts will notice the pain ahead of that date, not due to a lack of snow simply from a general contraction in buying ability coupled with the rising cost of oil. And what about climate change? Investigators have demonstrated that a doubling up of carbon dioxide levels shall augment ground temperatures by 3 to 7 Celsius. Notwithstanding there are still unanswered doubts. The rate of climate change and the consequences on the mountains climate. Several Celsius heating in the last 100 yrs hasn’t been seen in the last million years. Even during the ending of the ice-age 17000 years ago the increase of six Celsius was over of seven to ten thousand yrs. Before that Courchevel and Grand Massif were below thick ice and La Rosiere would have been the same as the Arctic.

Therefore what does the future hold for low mountain ski areas domains? Oil problems will begin to be keenly felt by 2013 - 18, leading to more costs for Chamonix chalets, ski transfer operators and ski lift firms alike. One half of the economic output hinges upon oil and the French imports 90 percent. Presently the total is 4 % of GDP. Should the cost of oil grows as predicted it’ll represent 37 % of gross domestic product, you can guess the down turn. The Alps will see the price of agricultural commodities increasing, flora species will change thanks to a alteration in rainfall patterns. People will move out of the area because of the summer stifling heat. The regions hydro power will be a worthwhile supply of power on the other hand it isn’t obvious whether it will be an advantage since there will be much less rain, additional water in the winter and much less in the summer.

Colleges and Universities Practice Green Building Policies

February 12th, 2009

Green building has taken on a new direction as several colleges and universities have started to employ various measures in applying eco-friendly ways in structuring their campuses.

Some examples include East Los Angeles College’s 5,952 solar panels and Santa Clara University’s yarn carpet tiles, glass solar chimney, and floors with 14-inch supports that allow air circulation.

Other colleges and universities have turned to using environmentally-friendly building products like perforated solar fins, recycled redwood, and geothermal walls.

The move to green building is an answer to social responsibility and a response to the growing concerns about the effects of global warming.

More than just being a fad, the green building initiative has managed to raise the environmental consciousness of students. Several student bodies have even agreed to suggest a raise in school fees to help pay for green building constructions.

It is important to note that when East Los Angeles College started constructing their solar panels, many were quite pessimistic while some commented on the amount of money the college was wasting. But since the East Los Angeles College community was determined to set an example and to show positive results, they never gave up.

Their efforts have clearly paid off as more and more colleges and universities are taking their side of the matter.

Using Swarovski Crystal Centerpieces for Your Wedding Day

February 12th, 2009

There are so many details that need to be considered to make your wedding day an absolutely incredible experience for you, your family, and your friends. You want to try and make every moment memorable for all of your loved ones that you have invited to share in your special day. I am going to discuss how you can make the table decorations really catch their eyes from the minute they walk in the door until they glance over their shoulders to get one last look before the day is done.

Since I have been making wedding days sparkle with Swarovski crystal centerpieces, I have come up with many of the ensembles through my own creativity. I have also gotten myriads of ideas from working with the brides themselves as I make their imaginations come to life. All of the arrangements and pieces that I will speak of in this article are only the beginning, please let your imagination run wild as you read this article and think of what is possible.

Lets start with the bouquets and floral arrangements on your tables at the reception. Swarovski crystal stems are very versatile, the stainless steel stems can be bent to work into arrangements that tower over the tables with calla lilies, the stems can be cut shorter to nestle in the center of roses, or even fall over the edges to mock ivy that dangles below the blooms.

Crystals can be incorporated in the ensemble by adding them to your décor with votive cups and candles that have Swarovski crystal “flat backs” glued to them in the shape of little hearts or wedding rings. I always thought it would be pretty to set a table with either bowls or tall, slender vases with floating candles in them. You could put loose crystals in the bottom of the water, and then set the decorated votives around them with tea lights. Doing this would make a very simple and elegant setting for a formal or informal wedding reception. One of the wonderful characteristics of Swarovski Crystals is that they are very brilliant, even in very low light.

Another way to have some sparkle on the table is to have crystals as your favors. The crystals will enhance the theme at everybody’s place setting and give them a memory of the day that they’ll have for years to come. You could put Swarovski Crystal Wine Glass Markers on everyone’s glass; just imagine how pretty it would look when they are all raised for the toasts. You could also use Swarovski Crystal Napkin Rings as a way to bring glamour to the table and have a light-on-the-wallet but heavy-on-the-glitz favor for all of your friends and family to take home.

As I said in the beginning, this is only a scratch to the surface of possibilities that can be created from crystals. It is very easy to create a very glamorous and whimsical setting using crystals that will last in your heart and mind forever.

Locating Excellent Cheap Wedding Favors

February 12th, 2009

Ask anyone who has planned or hosted a wedding in the past several years, and you will most likely hear that the cost of weddings has gotten completely out of control.

Many weddings today can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and that does not even count the cost of the honeymoon!

If you shop around carefully, you should be able to find some beautiful, elegant, and cheap wedding favors for your special day.

Planning for Your Financial Future

February 12th, 2009

Two heads are better than one, so sit down with your spouse and plan out your financial future together.
Prioritize your bills.

By determining which bills to pay in which order, you’ll get in the habit of making sure your essentials are always paid first.

Be careful using credit. Sometimes a financial crisis will come not because of a layoff, but because you’re overextended. Most people can afford to devote 10 percent of their net income (after taxes) to installment debt, not including mortgage or rent payments. If you pay out more than 15 percent, you need to cut back.

Establish an emergency fund. Open a savings account and start “paying yourself” 10 percent of each paycheck.

What happens if we run into an emergency and our emergency fund isn’t enough?

Don’t panic. When facing a financial crisis, stay calm. This will help you think logically and you’ll avoid unnecessary arguments with your spouse.

Quit spending money. When faced with a financial challenge, it’s easy to use your credit cards. But you may run up your balance to the credit limit and not be able to afford the payments, which will result in a poor credit ratingsomething you won’t want during a crisis time.

Prioritize your bills. Pay essential, or survival, bills first: food, mortgage or rent, utilities. Next, pay car insurance, medical needs, child support, and any loans such as automobiles and furniture that are secured as collateral.

Then pay the nonessential billsthose debts in which no immediate consequences occur if paid late: credit and charge cards, attorney, medical, and accounting bills, newspaper and magazine subscriptions, life insurance, childcare, gyms, or clothing.

Communicate with your creditors. If you can’t pay your bills or can only pay a partial amount, your creditors may be able to help you to establish a repayment plan.

Some lenders will allow you to defer one payment a year, meaning the payment for that particular month doesn’t have to be made. The deferred payment is added to the end of the contract.

Take notes of any conversations with creditors, listing the date and person with whom you spoke. Whatever arrangement you make, get it in writing from the creditor before you send in money.

Know your rights. Many collection agencies are in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. To get a copy of this legislation, visit www.ftc.gov. If you feel you’ve been violated, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at their website.

Find outside help. Many churches and Para church organizations run programs to help you navigate through financial troubles.

A debt management company may also be able to help you reduce your payments, lower your interest rates, and pay off your debt faster than trying to do it yourself.

Such companies can also negotiate with your creditors to bring your accounts current if they’re past due.
Avoid bankruptcy. Bankruptcies should be your last resort. A bankruptcy can remain on your credit report for up to 10 years.

Wedding Receiving Line Etiquette–Greeting Your Guests with Style

February 8th, 2009

Even though it’s a great tradition with a long history, some couples choose not to greet their guests in a receiving line fearing that this might take too long. Frank Gregoli, a top New York party planner says realistically, one should allow 30 minutes for every 100 people in the line. If this time allotment fits within your plans and you’d like to be certain that you personally welcome and thank each of your guests, read on.

Know the Basics

Being familiar with the basics of what a receiving line is all about will immediately help you to feel comfortable with this elegant formality.

Exactly when and where the receiving line is formed is really based upon your particular situation. In general, people like to form their line either in the vestibule right after the ceremony or at the entrance to the reception area.

With the exception of the groom, this is really a lady’s affair. Here’s the lineup: first in line is the bride’s mother, followed by the bride, the groom and, next to him, his mother.

Dads, groomsmen, bridesmaids, and children in the wedding party generally are not a part of the receiving line. If for some reason you choose to include any of these people, keep in mind that every person you add will cause the line to proceed slower.

Short and Sweet

Once everyone is in position, the rule should be to keep greetings brief yet warm and sincere. This will avoid a bottleneck. If there is time before your wedding day, review your list of guests with the groom and parents. A little homework never hurts.

Since your mother and you are the first in line, it’s expected that relatives and friends of his side of the family will introduce themselves to each of you. As your relatives and friends proceed, you should introduce them to the groom and his mother.

Include the Pleasantries Consider adding a few pleasantries if your receiving line will not be in a house of worship. This will liven up everyone’s mood, get conversations going, and make waiting in line easier for your guests. For instance, you could: Include musicHave the band or your dj positioned close enough so that there is music in the background. Plan ahead though. You don’t want to have to take time to make these arrangements at the last moment. Pass the trayAsk your caterer to set hors d’oeuvres and champagne on a table nearby or have a waiter offer these on a tray.

Receiving Guests Like a Pro

There are always instances where, for one reason or another, a person’s name is not ready to roll off your tongue. You can handle these moments as if you’ve been in receiving lines all your life by saying something like: “I’m so glad you came. (Groom’s name) and I hope you’ll have a wonderful time.” Or you could say, “It’s great to see you again. Please say hello to my husband, (Groom’s name).” Or “Thank you so much for coming. (Groom’s name) and I feel lucky to be with so many good friends.”

Keeping these simple ideas in mind will help you look and feel like a savvy new bride.

4 CDs of Celtic Harp Wedding Music You Will Want for Your Wedding

February 4th, 2009

Haste To The Wedding by Anne Roos

Anne Roos performs Celtic music on the Celtic harp with accompanying instruments. The tracks flow in the order that music flows at a wedding. Ideal for future brides and lovers of Celtic music alike. This unique CD was recorded live in a church, without overdubbing, to give the feeling of a live ensemble performing at a wedding.

Vow: An Irish Wedding Celebration by Aine Minogue

This is a beautiful CD of traditional Irish wedding ceremony music. The music is very well-produced with a beautiful modern new age sound that could be likened to Enya playing irish wedding music. The vocals are exquisite. The performance is fantastic .The music is beautiful and enrapturing. All in all, this is just a great CD and well worth the experience.

Princess of Flowers by Margaret Davis

The instrument Margaret performs on, the Celtic Harp, is based on the traditional British Isles instrument that predates the modern concert harp. Of Scottish heritage herself, Margaret has created a repertoire of traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, and England, as well as Medieval and Renaissance music from England, France, and Germany. Find out more about her Celtic Harp Wedding Music on her website.

A Celtic Renaissance Wedding by Brobdingnagian Bards

No, it’s not actually harp music. Instead, there’s an autoharp. However, this CD is a beautiful and mesmerizing album of romantic Celtic wedding music. In addition to being one of the band’s best-selling albums, it also receives high-marks from wedding couples worldwide.

Marc Gunn is an Irish and Scottish folk singer with a strange affinity for Celtic ballads, drinking songs and cats. He is the lead singer for the Brobdingnagian Bards who perform at numerous Celtic weddings in Central Texas. He is also Celtic music podcaster and Irish music magazine publisher and promoter.

Wedding Decorating Ideas You Need To Know About When Planning Your Wedding

February 4th, 2009

Do you need some wedding decorating ideas? Not exactly sure yet how you’re going to wind up decorating for your wedding reception? Hopefully some of these ideas will spark your imagination so you can have the wedding of your dreams.

Before we get started I have one important tip for you. You may be somewhat limited by how much you can decorate your reception area. Be sure to check with the management of the reception hall to see what is allowed and what is not allowed as far as decorating goes.

The most common wedding decorations are flowers. Most people know that, so I won’t spend a whole lot of time discussing flowers. Look for a complete article soon on this website about choosing wedding flowers, but for now, if you have some questions, simply go to Google.com and type in “wedding flowers” - from there you can choose the images tab and look at hundreds of different flowers.

Now, some ideas for decorating your wedding reception:

  • Figure out your budget for decorations. Then when you meet with potential wedding designers, let them know your budget. This will save you all some headaches.

  • Check with a local nursery to see about renting big plants like a ficus or a palm. These can usually be rented relatively cheap and will hide a lot of drab spaces in your reception area.

  • Take a long, hard look at the lighting of the room. The right mix of light could greatly transform the room from something ugly to something spectacular. Go to the reception hall at the time of day(or night) that your wedding will be and check out the lighting situation and play around a little bit. Can you dim the lights some? Can you bring in other lights to brighten the place up?

I could go on and on about wedding decorating ideas, but that would take far too much time and space. So look for future articles on more decorating. My only hope is that some of these ideas will send your wedding decorating in the right direction.
